The $54-million Beverly Hillbillies Mansion and Casino is to be constructed on the site of a former Wal-Mart store about a half hour's drive from Carson City.

New Indian Gambling Pact Negotiated in California
California's first new Indian gambling compact in 3½ years was signed yesterday, but the deal purportedly has little bearing on negotiations with 95 other gaming-interested tribes. The Torres-Martinez Band of Desert Cahuilla Indians plans to operate 350 slot machines at a truck stop in Imperial County in about a year and has agreed to pay a percentage of revenue from those machines directly to the state plus raise the age requirement for gambling from 18 to 21....
